Abstract Expressionism was the first international art movement to be born in the US. Often called the New York school it owes its existents to fifty years of artistic developments through wars and depressions. We will first look at the predecessors of the movement both in the US and Europe. A close examination of the development of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko will follow. The talk will conclude with a survey of other Abstract Expressionists of the Post War Era. Register.
