Six "Amanogawa"
cherry trees, now in full bloom were dedicate to
Hometown Heroes
Last year
a grant from Lowes of Patchogue themed Hometown
Heroes allowed the Patchogue beautification committee to plant
six Amanogawa cherry trees. Now in full bloom the
trees were dedicated to six individuals who have
made a difference due to their beautification
efforts in the Village of Patchogue.
Pictured below from left to right is Donald Felice
(honoree), Josephine Miller (honoree), Doug
Steigerwald (honoree), Carl Unger (honoree), Lorice
Fiala in behalf of her mother
Eloise
Staudinger
(honoree, deceased), Mayor Paul Pontieri. The sixth
honoree is Karl Boysen (deceased).
If you get a chance thanks Lowes for their community
give back grants programs and send a note to the
folks listed and let them know you appreciate their
volunteer efforts.
NOTE: The Village is actively involved in adding
trees to our village on streets and in parking lots
and in our parks, we also seek to preserve and care
for the trees that are already here. Hopefully by
2011 we will have earned the distinction of being
called a "Tree City USA" which is an Arbor Day
Foundation distinction.
